The Maryland Quality Initiative (MdQI) Annual Awards Celebration returns on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Martin’s Valley Mansion in Cockeysville. This special stand-alone event brings together transportation leaders, project teams, public agencies, contractors, consultants, and partners from across Maryland to recognize excellence in quality, innovation, safety, and collaboration.
While nominations have officially closed, the excitement is just beginning. The evening will honor this year’s outstanding finalists and award recipients whose work continues to raise the standard for project delivery and industry partnership throughout our state.
Join us as we celebrate the people and projects shaping Maryland’s transportation future in an atmosphere of recognition, connection, and industry pride.

MdQI presents annual Awards of Excellence for public sector transportation projects in Maryland. Awards may be presented in the following categories:
MDOT/Municipal Award (Under $5 Million and Over $5 Million)
Green/Sustainability/Environmental Award
Planning Award
Innovation Award
Subcontractor Award (Engineering and Construction)
“Project of the Year” will be selected from the years MDOT/Municipal award winners.

This award was initiated in 2009 to honor Pierce J. Flanigan, III who was a great contractor, leader, and a true friend to the highway industry in Maryland and beyond. Mr. Flanigan was president of P. Flanigan and Sons, Inc.
